THE PINEAPPLE - HOSPITALITY, FRIENDSHIP and in my case - LOVE!

What a year this has been!  It certainly did not turn out the way I had planned or hoped, but that is all for another post - or maybe we should just skip the whole thing entirely.

I planned to get back to this blog so many times this year, but like they say - better late than never!

I am doing Vlogmas 2024 over on my Youtube channel Erndales - and this week I am sharing a tutorial on a beautiful crochet ornament - A Traditional Pineapple with a tassel.

The pineapple Motif is one of the most popular motifs in the crochet world.  Probably one of the oldest as well.  Through the ages the PIneapple as become a symbol of hospitality and friendship - which perhaps is one of the reasons it was so often featured in tablecloths and doilies alike.

Where better for one show show hospitality, than around a table setting -  food and drink with friends and family.  Along with the pineapple cloth, it was tradition in the Victorian era to not only serve pineapple treats to their guests, but pineapples were also included in the large floral arrangements that decorated dining room tables.

When I was trying to decide which ornament to work on with my Youtube community, it seemed only fitting that it be the pineapple ornament.  Not only is it simple, and elegant - it signifies the atmosphere that I try to bring to my channel.

I hope you try this pattern, it is truly beautiful - and while it was designed as a tree ornament - it is perfectly adaptable to any season.  I plan to hang mine in my studio window and leave it up there for all seasons.

 Enjoy!
